Who we are

A community security organisation, accountable to the communities it serves.

The Vigilante Group of Nigeria is a voluntary, non-partisan body of community members who assist the statutory security agencies with intelligence gathering, neighbourhood watch, crowd control support and crime prevention.

Our members are drawn from the very communities they protect. They are screened, trained and registered, they operate under a published code of conduct, and they work under the direction of the Nigeria Police Force and other lawful authorities. We do not replace the police — we extend their reach into places and hours they cannot always cover alone.

Our work

Six areas of operation

Every activity below is carried out in support of, and subordinate to, the statutory security agencies.

Neighbourhood watch

Organised, rostered patrols of residential areas, markets and motor parks, coordinated with the nearest divisional police station.

Intelligence support

Local knowledge passed promptly and formally to the police. Our members know their streets, their markets and their people.

Rural & farm security

Protection of farmland, grazing routes and rural highways, with mediation support where farmer–herder tensions arise.

Crowd & event support

Marshalling at markets, religious gatherings, funerals and public events, always under police direction.

Public safety education

School visits, market sensitisation and community meetings on theft prevention, fire safety and reporting channels.

Escort & asset protection

Approved escort duties for produce transport and community assets, on request and with documented authorisation.
